Anniewalkers is Taking a Small Group to Lourdes in 2017

Spring in Lourdes - Walk With Us!

We are considering a walk that includes several places of interest, including Lourdes. Here is the tentative plan.

We meet you in Toulouse, where you can visit the national monument,
the Toulouse Cathedral as well as the beautiful Basilica of San Sernin.

From there we head to Moissac to visit the Moissac Abbey,
with its fantastic gothic sculptures.

Next, we take a train to Lourdes,
where you can visit the Spring of St. Bernadette,
drink from the sacred waters,
and participate in the evening candlelight procession.

From Lourdes, we begin our walk,
taking us through the lush French foothill countryside
and into the majestic Pyrenees.

During the walk, will stay in private lodgings
as well as occasional pilgrim accommodations,
depending on availability,
so you must be flexible regarding lodging for this trip.

We will cross the historic Roman pass of Somport into Spain.

From Jaca, we will will take a bus to San Juan de la Peña Monastery,
one of the most important monasteries built in Aragon.
We will visit the ancient monastery as well as the more modern monastery
with its glass floors, under which are displayed
cast sculptures depicting all the aspects of daily monastic life.
Partially carved into an overhanging cliff,
legend said that the chalice of the Last Supper (the Holy Grail)
was sent to the ancient monastery for protection
 and prevention from being captured
by the Muslim invaders of the Iberian Peninsula.

Continuing on the Aragones Route,
we will eventually reach Eunate,
the emblematic 12th Century Romanesque Church of St. Mary of Eunate,
believed to be of Templar origin.
Here, the Aragones hooks up to the Camino Santiago
 at nearby Puente la Reina.

You may decided to end your trip here.
Or you may decide to continue on to Santiago
with our Best of Both Group,
or on your own.
The choice is yours.

We hope to have a small group of 4 - 6 pilgrims
and whether or not the trip manifests depends on interest.

I should be able to list a price for this trip in the next 2-3 weeks.

Watch for details on our website at
Buen Camino!
