The next time we walked this route, we f...Update!! The next time we walked this route, we found out there was a bus you can catch from Jaca that will take you to the Monastery and then back to Jaca. This is a most excellent plan. Stay TWO nights in Jaca. The first day, take the bus to see the Monastery. Then the second day you can walk from Jaca and not have to take the side trip. Much easier.
