Via de la Plata - Second Edition

Well, I did it!
I bought my ticket for Madrid today!
After two nights there to adjust to the time change, I'll take a train to Seville.

I will attempt to finish, or at least make a dent in, the Via de la Plata, picking up from Fuente de Cantos, where I was forced to stop due to heat and no water a few years ago.

I'm going to arrive in Seville on May 10 and stay two nights so I can visit Italica.
Then I'll find a bus to Fuente and begin walking on May 12, if all goes well.

I've got a great itinerary, thanks to one of my forum friends Laurie, and hope the weather will be sunny and warm, but not hot.

I'm excited!
More tomorrow.
:::doing a happy dance:::
I'm going to Spain!

  1. Buen Camino! How wonderful. What better time to start a Camino than Easter?!! I'm so happy for you though have to admit that a little bit of me wishes I was in a position to join you. May God bless you and keep you and your companions safe on this pilgrimage.

  3. Incredible! I just stumbled across your blog whilst looking for resources/maps for the Via de la Plata. I too am doing the Via de la Plata. I start my camino on the 11th of May, cycling from Seville to Santiago over 8 days.

    What have you found to be the best map for the route? (I have struggled to find one).

  5. You really do not need a map. The route is very well marked!
    There is an app you can get from the App Store, if you have a smart phone.
    It is just a Via de la Plata guide and is by Melanie.
    Buen Camino!

    1. One thing to note is that some albergues may be full around the railroad they're building. But on a bike, you will be fine to ride around the problem areas.
