Holtville Hot Springs
I packed up the van last night and this morning I took off South again.

I met up with Lisa Middleton at Holtville Hot Springs! Lisa is from Minnesota and if there are two expressions to describe her, I'd say she's cute as a bug and smart as a whip! Lisa travels with her pup and works from her van.

The trip to the hot springs was confusing - the GPS instructions weren't too hot. I took I-10 to 86. Then although the GPS was sending me toward Yuma, I saw a sign to turn left on 115 to Holtville, so I took that turn. I stayed on 115 all the way through town then JUST a few feet before you merge onto I-8 to Yuma, you turn left off onto a small road that goes directly to the Hot Springs.

Lisa met me at that junction and drove me to the hotsprings. It was wonderful to finally meet her. We've texted back and forth since before the RTR.

The hot springs were nice, but quite small. They looked a little green, but Lisa says they clean them on Tuesdays. Usually I wouldn't care, but since I had all that surgery two days ago, I decided it would be best not to chance getting an infection.

The springs are next to a lovely pond where we met two young boys fishing.

There is a BLM long term camping facility right across the road, but Lisa showed me a road alongside a canal that led to some free parking. I took a mental note, then decided to continue on to Yuma.

I'm sitting in the parking lot of the Quechan Casino in Yuma. I'm parked next to a nice guy named Frank who has been full-timing for nearly 20 years and a couple from Canada (his name is Brian - haven't met her yet).

The weather is cool but sunny, and though I'm headed south, I guess the cold snap hasn't let up, so I'm expecting some chilly nights. I brought an extra wool blanket this time. And I do have my Buddy heater if I need it.

Sooooo... that's all for today.

Gonna go try to stay warm and stay out of that danged Casino. It took $160 of my dollars this afternoon ... but it was fun.

Happy Trails!
Annie
