The Camino Frances is Ablaze!

Life is such a daring adventure!

And on that note, I'm changing routes again.

Why?
Because the fires in Spain are causing devastation and destruction along the last half of the Camino Frances and it doesn't feel safe walking through the ashes, even if the fires will be out by the time I reach Burgos.
Having had cancer already,
and having had Valley Fever as a child,
I'm not in the mood to risk lung cancer
from those particulates in the air.
The smoke is bad enough,
but even after the fires are out, the slightest breeze
can lift dangerous particulate pollutants into the air.

The Camino Frances will be there next Spring,
and will be better and safer walking.

Montserrat, here I come!

Because I already have a train ticket to Pamplona and nonrefundable reservations there, I'm going to go there as planned for a couple of days. Then I'm catching a train to Manresa for two days. Joe and I visited Manresa a couple of years ago for Semana Santa, and I love the place. It will be good to visit the Cave of Ignatius again.

From Manresa, I'll go to Montserrat and start my Camino there. I've been wanting to walk that route for years. Last year I even planned it out, then changed at the last minute.

I am good at that... change.
Sometimes I wonder if I thrive on the adventure of it?!

Anyway, I'm excited!
I've made as many reservations as I can.
I have divided up some of the longer stages, and for the rest, well, I'll just wing it!

The Air Canada strike is over, and I'm praying my flight will not be changed. So far it's looking good.

5 more sleeps!

Stay tuned,

Annie
