I had a very restful night last night in my little pilgrim room with a private bathroom. This morning I got up and begin making reservations for the next two weeks as I heard there were 500 pilgrims leaving Roncesvalles yesterday.
After breakfast, I found a store and bought some sandals for wearing after my walk each day. The flip-flops I bought just weren’t cutting it on these cobblestone streets. I’m arriving so early each day that I have time to go walking after I drop my backpack off so I needed shoes that were a little more comfortable. I found a nice pair of sandals for €39.
Now I’m sitting under the famous bridge, watching the water in the shade and waiting for my albergue to open. I do need to take a walk to the supermarket to pick up something for dinner because she does not serve food. So I will eat picnic tonight. Here are a few photos I took this morning
My pilgrim room at Hotel Jakue
Me and our friend Arantxa, the receptionist at Jakue. She is always so helpful
These windows are not glass, but of a very thin sheet of alabaster I believe
The doors in Spain are always so interesting to me

Tonight’s lodging. The last two photos are from the Internet
It’s about noon so I’m gonna go find a market and buy some dinner groceries. More tomorrow
Love,
Annie
