Sunshine!

We woke up this morning and saw this big yellow bright thing up in the sky. It was a little scary until we realized it was the sun! This is the first sunny day I think I’ve seen in a week. We had breakfast at a local bar and then went back to the museum which will be closed tomorrow, to spend more time looking at all of the wonderful exhibits. I was forced to leave when a group of people steeped in perfume came in. We might try going back later today. Right now we’re hanging out in the apartment, making a grocery list. We are going to go to the market and picnic tonight . I’m saving tapas on Calle Laurel or Calle San Juan for maybe Tuesday or Wednesday when it is not so busy. Tomorrow we’re thinking about walking to the river. It is supposed to be sunny most of the day tomorrow. And then again comes the rain.

I’ve seen a number of Pilgrims here the last two days

This is our breakfast. Café con Leche, Café solo, y dos pinchos de tortilla.  Tortilla in Spain is a really nice breakfast made of cooked potatoes, onions, and eggs. It’s what I would call a frittata. They give you a generous slice along with some fresh bread and it makes a nice breakfast.

Here are a few more photos of the museum.  These are actually more for my own memories than to entertain my readers

Lead pipes used by the Romans. They worked wonderfully, but led to early deaths by lead poisoning.

Waymark for Lorogño.
Sorry this is out of order

Teeny tiny bone spoons used to measure medical powders.

I always thought these lamps were reformed but now I see they were formed in molds.

These tubes carried heat by convection into houses

These needles are the same size as the needles we used today.

These are clamps used to repair a broken plates or bowls the same way China is repaired today. I don’t know why I’m so blown away by that fact. I guess we think of people 2000 years ago as being Neanderthals but they really were humans just like us living their day-to-day life, putting on their make up,  going to the market, having babies, getting drunk, and whatever else we do every single day.
